Global economists forecast that China is likely to overtake Japan to become the second largest economy in the world in 2011. &#8216;The China Price&#8217; has become the three scariest words in US industries. With the ambition of building up international business flagships, China has started a &#8216;Shopping Spree&#8217; of European and American companies, including MG Rover, IBM PC &amp; Laptops and several mining and oil giants.</p> <p>At present, China is a country that presents vast opportunities. More and more Chinese entrepreneurs, whether home-grown or returning from stints abroad, are setting up new businesses on the mainland. With the changes that have swept the country in the past decade, thousands of Chinese entrepreneurs are heading back home to create their own business empire. Within time, China will soon become the world centre of entrepreneurship.</p> <p>&#8216;Entrepreneurship&#8217; according to Onuoha (2007) is the practice of starting new organizations or revitalizing mature organizations, particularly new businesses generally in response to identified opportunities. Entrepreneurship is often a difficult undertaking, as a vast majority of new businesses fail. Entrepreneurial activities are substantially different depending on the type of organization that is being started. Entrepreneurship ranges in scale from solo projects (even involving the entrepreneur only part-time) to major undertakings creating many job opportunities.<br /> (Wikipedia 2008)</p> <p>&#8220;High value&#8221; entrepreneurs need to manage the source and use of capital, build teams, develop and promote products/services, manage cash flow, react to intensive competition and changing market conditions etc. Any part of the process can go wrong which could signal the end for a young and often vulnerable business.</p> <p>Lots of young Chinese adults have the drive, attitude, and intelligence required for business success but lack an understanding of what success requires. In addition, many are often confused on how to get started. </p> <p>According to Beijing Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science (www.bjpopss.gov.cn), every year, more than 5 million Chinese entrepreneurs start their own business, but only 20%-30% survive after the first year. After 3 years, only 30% survive and only 17% of these survivors actually make a profit. For those businesses which were started by fresh graduates, the failure rate is approximately 99%.</p> <p><strong>Chinese Entrepreneurs Global (CE Global) </strong> is a non-profit organization formed to provide a platform for young Chinese entrepreneurs (or entrepreneurs who have a China focus) to share entrepreneurial ideas/information and experience worldwide. It aims to promote entrepreneurship within the Chinese community in a global context.
